After an oral biopsy, control bleeding by biting on gauze for 30-minute intervals and apply ice packs to the face for swelling, switching to warm compresses after 48 hours. Consume a soft diet, avoid hot or spicy foods, and refrain from rinsing or using straws for 24 hours. Maintain oral hygiene by gently brushing and rinsing with warm salt water beginning the day after surgery. Limit physical activity to minimize bleeding and swelling, and follow up with your doctor to discuss the biopsy results. Regardless of the results, we will schedule an in person appointment to review steps moving forward.
