*If you received an immediate denture, please also follow the extraction post-op instructions.*
Be kind to yourself! You’ve just undergone a big procedure and are on a healing journey. It will take time before you get the hang of things and settle into your new normal. Your mouth will need time to adjust—just like breaking in a new pair of shoes. Speech may sound different at first, and reading out loud daily can help you adjust more quickly.
Try to keep your denture or partial in place for the first 24 hours, or as long as you comfortably can. After that, you may remove it to clean.
Clean your denture daily using a soft toothbrush with dish soap and water. Avoid toothpaste, baking soda, or bleach, as these can damage it. You may also use an over-the-counter denture cleaner if needed.
Soreness is expected and dentures will need multiple adjustments to continuously adapt to how your gums heal. We’ll check the fit at your follow-up visits and make any needed changes. Please prioritize those appointments so that we can help make this transition as smooth as possible for you.
